Exploring Style

Open Wed – Sat, 10am – 4pm
In our new exhibition we are excited to showcase the work of three of our most innovative local artists, linked by their love of representing the ethereal, fleeting moments in our lives in figurative and abstract form.
John Harris has travelled extensively, sketchbook in hand, atmospherically capturing the contrasts in land, weather and light across Africa, Australia and the Middle East before returning to Worcestershire where his inspiration has shifted to the trails, beacons, mounds and stones that mark our impact on the local landscape.
Anne Bate-Williams takes the decay of our built environment as her inspiration, creating multimedia images that invite us to reflect on the joy of what has passed and anticipate the possibility of regeneration. Her experimental approach leads to images which create a highly personal view of a place and moment in time using both oils and acrylics.
Camilla Ward by contrast explores the landscape of her inner world as it is shaped through her everyday life and experience. While she has become increasingly absorbed in painting, her work is strongly influenced by her earlier interest in ceramics and retains the fragile, earthy tactile quality of clay.
